Art?

I live in this semi-little town in Washington state. It has been built on swamp land; when the town was first founded, everything was built on stilts. It is right on a river, so there are boat docks and saw mills here. Big logging community. Or it was anyway. The main street back in the 1800s had strip joints all up and down it. One of these is now a really great restaurant called Billy's. If anyone ever visits here, I highly recommend it. However, I guess around the late 1800s to early 1900s, the town was known as the "Port of Missing Men," because of our high murder rate. It has since gone down; we have had maybe four murders here in my almost 27 years here and none of the murderers have ever gotten away with it. I am giving you this background on my town because, well, we have some weird "art" on the side of our main streets. We have two main streets and they are both one ways. Damn tourists need to learn to read the black and white signs that say "One way" on them because every summer it never fails: someone turns the wrong way and either hits someone or almost hits them. Anyway, I got sidetracked. Back to the "art." On Southside, there are oars sticking up into the air. Yes. I'm not kidding. Oars. I guess it is because we are a boating community. It's still a little weird. That is tamest of the "art." So back to downtown. This is what my town calls "art."

Yes. This is it. It is a bug. In a cage nonetheless. And there are more of these, at least one on each block. They are not all bugs, some are like square metal things with pictures on them. One has Albert Einstein, who has nothing at all to do with our town, one has a football player but the colors of his uniform aren't even from our high school, and some other things. I do have a favorite one, unfortunately I did not get a picture of it. It is a six foot tall fish pulling a man out of what is supposed to be the river I think. That one is the best; I promise a picture will be forthcoming. Anyway, I thought everyone might enjoy the "Art of Aberdeen" as much as I do.
